This preliminary conference had invited mostly trans identified scientists, physicians and community activists from all over the world. This conference demonstrated in a great way that we exist. That we, as trans persons ourselves, can act as professional scientists and service providers in the medical field and present our work to an international audience. Together with my colleagues, I was able to talk about current discourses in HIV research, prevention and treatment. We also pointed out where there is still a lot of work to be done.
